P'illoporto was established in 2010, in Portland, Oregon. Our goal is to create fun, smart objects for your home by putting our own twist on the tradition of adorning objects with imagery. Our first foray was into embroidered pillows and we've since added tote bags and dish towels. Our original designs are inspired by cartoon art, traditional illustration and an appreciation of vintage design and will add a dash of humor, whimsy and maybe a little irony to your sofa, bed or kid's room. We like to think of our products as usable art.
Designer Phil Marden is working with local craftspeople here in Portland to produce our unique products.  Keep an eye out for more products from P'illoporto.
PHIL MARDEN
All of P'illoporto's pillows feature the original designs of Phil Marden, award-winning illustrator and designer, who recently migrated to Portland after growing up in Chicago and spending many years in New York City. His work has appeared in dozens of magazines, books, and galleries, and has been animated for TV commercials and shows like BETWEEN THE LIONS on PBS and DAVE'S WORLD, for the feature film, THE STEPFORD WIVES, for live theater productions and the web. Phil illustrated The Metropolitan Diary in THE NEW YORK TIMES and various columns in THE BOSTON GLOBE for many years and is currently illustrating a regular column in the Real Estate section of the TIMES.  His work was featured in the retrospective of The Ink Tank, the animation studio founded by R. O. Blechman, at MOMA.

THE PILLOWS

Our pillows have removable covers made of 100% Linen, excluding the trim, and are embroidered on one side. They have an overlapping closure at the back. The inside liner is made of Organic Cotton and filled with 100% Kapok, a natural, renewable fiber that comes from the seed of the Kapok Tree.

Linen dates back as far as ancient Egypt and is made from flax. We love it for its uneven texture, its softness and its rich variety of colors. Linen wrinkles easily but we think that adds to the charm of the pillows by giving them a slightly rumpled look. If the covers get too wrinkled for your taste, we recommend ironing them while still damp. For best results, machine-wash in the delicate cycle and air-dry. Do not bleach.
